Project Description
The Swap Shop is a student-led initiative intended to serve as an exchange for design students to reuse materials and tools and reduce the amount of material waste generated by studio projects and other design endeavors. By providing a platform for students, faculty, and staff to repurpose and exchange materials, the Swap Shop facilitates the exchange of used materials and tools and encourages individuals to reimagine and repurpose items that might otherwise end up in landfills. Designed, coordinated, and contracted by student leadership, the design-build project aims to reduce waste, promote reuse, and foster a culture of innovation by contributing to the broader sustainability goals of the School of Design and reinforcing the importance of conscious consumption. The scope of the project included design through 3D modeling, shop drawings, contractor communication, and mural commissioning.
